OUR FIRST MEETING: During this session, we will determine at what stage you are in your legal proceedings and make a plan for completion of any necessary paperwork. Your mediator will also explain in detail the mediation process and review the goals for each of you. Specific concerns can be addressed independently, if appropriate, at your election.

We also discuss and agree upon the “ground rules” of the mediation process including the confidential nature of the mediation, the full disclosure of all assets and liabilities required pursuant to California law and the right of each party to have legal counsel during the process.

ADDITIONAL MEETINGS: Depending upon the complexity of your situation, additional meetings will be scheduled to address the pertinent issues in your case.  These additional sessions may include financial disclosures, disclosure of assets and liabilities and discussion, negotiation and resolution on an issue by issue basis.  Common issues addressed in mediation include child custody, parenting time (visitation), child support, spousal support and asset and debt division.

SUMMARY OF AGREEMENTS: Memorandums of agreements reached throughout the mediation process will be prepared as each issue is resolved.

PREPARATION OF FINAL PAPERWORK:  A Marital Settlement Agreement and all other Court required paperwork will be prepared for your independent review, approval and signatures.

COURT PROCESSING: Once the paperwork has been reviewed, approved and signed by both parties, it will be submitted to the Court for final processing. Once the paperwork has been processed, you will be provided with filed copies for your records.
